Maharaja’s Express is the name of luxury, comfort and real charm of royalty. The journey of Maharaja’s express provides the elegance of a bygone era while maintaining all the modern comforts. Maharaja’s express was first introduced in the year of 2010 with the ownership of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The train operates on 04 routes covering more than 12 destinations across north-west and central India. The train runs between October to April. The train voted seven times in a row The WorldTravel Awards in the year of 2102, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018.
Cabins
There are 04 categories of luxurious cabin choices which design the combination of old world charm and comfort. Each of the cabins has a large window to see the panoramic view while moving the train. The 24 hours butler service ensures the traveler comfortable experience. The train has 14 guest carriage which names after various precious stones Moti (Pearl), Heera (diamond), Monga (Coral), Pukhraj (Sapphire), Neelam (Blue Sapphire), Feeroza (Turquoise) etc. The cabins are segregated in four categories: Deluxe cabin, Junior Suite cabin, Suite cabin, and presidential suite cabin which is called Navratna which is 02 bedrooms with an attached bathroom with private bath tub and grand living room. The cabins are equipped with LCD TV, Direct dialing telephone, king size or twin bed size., electronic safe deposit, private bathroom with toiletries DVD player, channel music etc;
Deluxe Cabin: 112 Sq. feet, available in twin and double bed with private bathroom, sharing bus and English speaking guide for excursion at all the destinations. There are 12 twin cabins and 08 double cabins in deluxe category.
Junior Suite Cabin: 150 Sq. feet, available in twin and double bed, with writing table and private bathroom, sharing bus and English speaking guide for excursion at all the destinations. There are 12 twin cabins and 06 double cabins in the junior suite category.
Suite Cabin: 220 Sq. feet, available in a double bed with living area, private bathroom with bathtub, private vehicle with English speaking guide for excursions at all destinations. There are 04 double cabins in the suite category of cabins.
Presidential suite cabin: 448 Sq. feet with 01 double and 01 twin bedroom with 02 bathrooms with 01 bath tub in one bathroom, grand living / dining area with state of the art décor, private luxury vehicle with English speaking guide for excursion at all the destination. There is 01 double cabin in the presidential suite category cabin.
Lounge, Dining and Bar
There are 02 restaurant carriages named The Peacock (Mayur Mahal) and Rangmahal and each of the restaurants has the seating capacity of 42 guests at one time. All the breakfast (Except in Tajmahal) and all the lunches and dinner served (except few in journey) in both the restaurant. This restaurant serves world class cuisine with mouthwatering taste. The Maharaja’s Express has a state of the art kitchen car designed to provide the range of menu including traditional Indian cuisine along with continental, Chinese and international cuisine.
A dedicated bar carriage Rajah club offers a well stocked wine, liquor, spirit and beers and a lounge cum bar Safari bar equipped with library and in-house games. The tariff of Maharaja’s express includes the drinks onboard for Indian manufacture foreign liquor.
